What We Do
Who We Are
Founded in 1971, Guilford Center for Children (GCC) was created by community members who recognized the need for high-quality early care and education for working families. Over five decades later, GCC continues to grow, serving children from ages 3 to 12 through three interconnected programs that form a continuum of care and learning.
Early Education Program (Ages 3–5) - An NAEYC-accredited program that nurtures school readiness through play, exploration, and discovery. The curriculum supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each child in a warm, consistent, and nurturing atmosphere. Learning experiences include language development, creative arts, motor activities, science, cooking, music, multicultural awareness, and plenty of free play.
Before & After School Care (Ages 5 -12) - Providing safe, engaging, and reliable care before and after the school day for children in three of Guilford’s four elementary schools. The program also offers full-day care on select school holidays, during spring break, and throughout the summer to meet the needs of working families.
Summer Camp (Ages 5 -12) - A fun, inclusive, and activity-rich program that combines outdoor play, creative learning, and community experiences, helping children stay active, social, and engaged all summer long.
Together, our programs serve over 400 children annually, creating stability for families and fostering healthy development in every domain - social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. GCC is growing brighter futures, one child at a time.

Our Mission and Philosophy
At Guilford Center for Children, we believe that every child learns best in a safe, caring, and engaging environment where curiosity leads the way. Our programs nurture the whole child—supporting social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth through play, exploration, and meaningful relationships.
Our educators act as partners in learning, creating spaces where children feel secure, respected, and encouraged to discover their own abilities. We value open communication with families and view them as essential partners in each child’s development.
By embracing diversity, fostering inclusion, and providing accessible care, Guilford Center for Children helps every child build confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
